Winterfest
Elliot Lake's Winterfest is an annual celebration that brings the community together for a weekend filled with winter-themed activities and entertainment. Typically held in late February, the festival offers a diverse lineup of events catering to all ages.
Past festivities have included youth dances, scenic hikes, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, free public skates and swims, sled-box and ski racing, beach bonfires, and games!
Winterfest not only highlights the vibrant spirit of Elliot Lake but also fosters a sense of community, drawing residents and visitors together to embrace the beauty and excitement of the winter season.

Ice Fishing Derby
The Elliot Lake Ice Fishing Derby is a beloved annual tradition that brings together anglers of all skill levels for a day of excitement on the frozen waters of Elliot Lake. Whether you're an avid angler or a curious newcomer, the Elliot Lake Ice Fishing Derby offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, engage in friendly competition, and potentially reel in impressive rewards.

Battle of the Bands
Elliot Lake's Battle of the Bands is an annual musical competition that serves as a prelude to the city's Heritage Days Street Dance. Local bands compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to be the opening acts at the Street Dance, performing before the headlining artist.
We are currently accepting applications for our 2025 Battle of the Bands event!
To enter your band into the 2025 Battle of the Bands competition, an adult representative must complete the online registration form. Under 18? A parent/guardian must submit the registration form as band representative.
Each band will be permitted one (1) additional adult (roadie) to assist with set-up and break-down. The band representative is responsible for ensuring each band member (including additional adult) is listed on the registration form and that they all sign a waiver. No waiver = no stage access.
Registration Fee: None.
Registration Deadline: Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:55PM.
Each successful application must include a one-song demo video as your audition.
A link to your audition video can be submitted on the online form, or the link/file can be emailed to the Recreation Dept.
Please note:
- Lyrics must not contain profanity, derogatory language, explicit content, or violence.
- Original songs are encouraged!
- All audition videos must be submitted before the deadline (Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:55PM) to be eligible.
A selection committee will review all entries and choose the top four (4) bands. Finalists will be announced by Thursday, April 10, 2025, via the City of Elliot Lake Facebook page and contacted directly.
Finalists must be available to perform at the Heritage Days Street Dance on June 27, 2025, if selected as the winner.
- Equipment: Bands must bring their own gear (excluding microphones).
- Check-in: All members must arrive at least 1 hour before showtime.
- Readiness: Bands must be ready 15 minutes before their slot or face disqualification.
- Equipment Storage: A designated storage area will be available; the City of Elliot Lake is not responsible for lost/damaged equipment.
- Attire: Clothing must be free from obscenities.
- Behavior: All performances must be respectful and violence-free.
- Stage Time: Each band gets 45 minutes total, including setup, performance, and takedown.
- Sound Check: Times will be provided closer to the event.
- Live Performance: No pre-recorded tracks—all performances must be live.
Winners will be determined by a panel of judges and a public vote.
Results will be announced at the event on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The first place winner will get an encore performance (2 songs) to close the event.
Prizes:
1st Place: $1500 cash prize* + opening act slot at the 2025 Heritage Days Street Dance
2nd Place: $750 cash prize*
3rd Place: $500 cash prize*
*No prize substitutions allowed

Time: Doors open at 7:00PM. First band starts at 7:30PM.

Heritage Days
